Department of Skill Development and Industrial Training, Haryana is imparting
Skill based training to the unemployed youth through the network of 156 Govt.
Industrial Training Institutes (123 GITIs and 33 GITIs for Women) and 232
Private ITIs under Craftsman Training Scheme. One year and two year duration
courses are being run in these institutes. During the current academic year
2017-18, 60292 sanctioned seats in 3518 trade units have been released for
admission in GITIs and 38832 seats in 2295 trade units have been released for
admission in PITIs. In the year 1966, when Haryana state came into being, there
were 48 Govt. Industrial Training Institutes with seating capacity of 7156.
Now, there are total 388 Industrial Training Institutes with seating capacity
of 99124 offering 78 trades in Govt. as well as Private ITIs. Quality of
training in ITIs is being upgraded regularly by improvement in curriculum,
training methodology and training of trainers. New trades are being introduced
as per demand of the market.
